The reservations link on the website doesn't load. Left a couple messages at the restaurant with no return call. Any other way to make a reservation for a group?

      A:

Hi, so the link online wasn't working for myself or my brother. We went on a Sunday but he was able to call and someone answered the phone and informed him that the flower garden was first come first serve. I hope this helps you.

Vibe: Sunday brunch. Wear a shirt with a frocket, you could do shorts (not booty shorts).
Food: one miss for every four hits. Cinnamon roll was , breakfast sandwich was but the shrimp and grits were just ok. Cocktail, frozen shrimp drowned in whatever that sauce is.
      Service: We were served well!
Bathroom: Not located in the restaurant, but real close through a back door into the hotel next door (all attached and you don't need to walk outside.

Yesterday was my first experience at King & Rye and I can say with absolutely certainty that I will not be returning. This seems to be another example of a hotel restaurant prioritizing form over function. All show no go.

I ordered a bottle of wine and three dishes; the deviled eggs, seared scallops and burger. Below is what I received.

Seared scallops: 5 medium size scallops, a handful of breakfast potatoes, a green sauce and some fried kale. The scallops were not even close to seared. They were dropped into the fryer with the potatoes and kale. They tasted of old fryer oil and dripped grease when squeezed. This was a $30 dish. Gross.

Burger: My first observation when the plate arrived was that the tater tots were fried to a very dark brown color. I tasted one while the server was at the table and it was bitter. Wayyy over cooked. I asked the server if that was how they were normally served and she replied it was with noticeable hesitation. I asked for a new order, which she brought. The burger wasn't bad. It had good seasoning, but not much else happening with it. The bun was of the grocery store variety and cold to the touch.

Deviled eggs: The most flavorful bite of the night. 4 half eggs so not a great value, but they tasted good. not mad about it.

Service: Our plates started to be cleared before they were finished. I actually had to ask for my food back. We still had a half bottle of wine. Chairs were being put up on all the tables around us as we finished our wine. As I poured the last glass from the bottle the lights were turned up all the way. Pretty clear we weren't welcome to stay. It was 10pm. The website says they seat until 10.

      Please do better.

Yesterday we stopped by for breakfast at King and Rye! We were in the area and it caught our eye and I'm so glad we went in because the food was good!

I had the Virginia Breakfast which came with 2 eggs, crispy red potatoes, thick cut bacon and sour dough toast.

My boyfriend had the Buttermilk Pancakes with Bown Butter apples, Diplomat Cream and Maple Syrup with a side of ham.

The food was good and fresh, I'd definitely love to stop by again and try more items on the menu!

The service was also good, the staff was friendly and attentive.

I love the aesthetic too of the place, it's reminiscent of a whiskey bar but more modern and a little upscale. This restaurant is nextdoor and connected to The Alexandrian Hotel.

There isn't parking onsite but there is street parking available around the area which can be tricky to find when Old town is busy.

Our experience at this place was incredibly enjoyable! We decided to reserve the Igloo's at the back for a double date, and although those closest to the heater were the coziest, it was still a fantastic and unique experience. The menu offers amazing food, and you can't go wrong with any choice.

However, we did face a few minor issues. We quickly ran out of table space for the four of us, so it would be helpful to have a stacking cart or ledges inside the igloo for drinks. Additionally, our igloo had a dripping issue during the rain, and it does get cold near the zipper entrance. To improve the experience, it would be great to have a touch pad or app for ordering from inside the igloo, along with a chat option for any questions.

Despite these small concerns, we had a wonderful time overall, and the ambiance, friendly waiter, and delicious food made it a memorable date or brunch spot!

We went for brunch on a Sunday morning. The consensus was that everything sounded better than it tasted. Cinnamon roll was dry. Shrimp and grits were meh (ie no flavor). The side of pancakes were our favorite. It was pretty unmemorable - I would have been happier at a casual take away coffee shop. The space is very open - they have a few tables set up right in front of the door an on a cold day...it's pretty chilly.

This is the perfect brunch place in Old Town Alexandria!

The food was amazing! I got the cinnamon roll, the Virginia breakfast, and the pancakes. The cinnamon roll was so warm and delicious. The portions were large and was definitely worth the price. They had a variety of mimosas and other delicious cocktails.

The ambiance was perfect. The decor in the restaurant was so beautiful and posh.

The service was great. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.

This was my first visit to Old Town and king and rye didn't disappoint. All the staff was very friendly and attentive from the moment you walked in. But first parking is street parking but there's a parking lot on the side streets that's only $1 per hour that's a steal.... Ok so we reserved for the heated igloos so we were outside .... Very cute.
We ordered the deviled eggs and cinnamon bun as apps both were delicious. The eggs were seasoned to perfection. I'm not big on cocktails due to them being weak but both of my hot cocktails did not disappoint.... The cozy by the fire was my favorite. It was a hot apple cider and cinnamon whiskey drink. I ordered a burger that was suppose to come with a side of tater tots but came with fries due to them running out but our server gave us extra potatoes as well to satisfy our loss of tater tots lol
The food and condiments are made in house the bacon my friend had was hand slice and thick like pork belly.
Overall the price the ambiance the service the food and convenience was all FIVE STARS...

I had a reservation here on a Sunday at 12pm, with my brother and mother accompanying me. The restaurant has dim lighting and sort of a dark atmosphere to it. We ate off the brunch menu, which unfortunately had varying reviews. I opted for the Virginia breakfast, which included : toast, potatoes, scrambled eggs with cheese, and bacon. The scrambled eggs with cheese were very good and I appreciated how they added chives to it. The potatoes are very big and tasted of an old bay seasoning, and were perfectly crisp. Now the bacon was more of slices of pork belly, it was very oily and fatty. The toast for sourdough bread but was not good to me. I'm not sure what it was , but it was very dry and honestly tasted stale to me. My mother ordered shrimp and grits which were absolutely delicious. They were well seasoned and I wish I would've order that instead. The shrimp had a sausage like aroma, which was divine. My brother opted for the pancakes, these were not anything to write home about as they were kind of dry, and weren't my typical type of pancake. If you love the crispy edges and soft in the middle pancakes, these are not for you. We also ordered the deviled eggs, which were spicy as heck. I actually think they put the Devil in the egg. Maybe we had a bad batch but I love spice and this made me eat with caution. Now for the server, she was pleasant but did very minimal to enhance the eating experience. Per example not asking if we needed any condiments and not checking on us within good amount of time. It felt as if she was very distant or just very dry with our table. The cost for our meal was $69.95 , which I believe was fair including we also ordered a Bellini which was good.

I've been to King & Rye a few times now, and I'm always very happy with it. This time I came with a friend to try the Girl Scout cookies and whiskey flight, which was a very cute idea and super fun. All of the whiskeys were delicious and interesting, and I really appreciated the thought that went into the pairings. My only complaint was that the pours were a bit small for the price, and it would have been nice to have maybe two cookies instead of just one.

We already got the potato chowder from the starters menu, and it completely knocked our socks off! I'm a definite soup lover, and this is one of the best potato soups I've ever tried. The chunks of pork were such a great addition. I'll be getting it again for sure!

Came for Alexandria Restaurant Week and didn't have too much expectation as no one had recommended King & Rye too us. I'd say that this place performed admirably but won't knock your socks off.

Cornbread was very dry and tough so get your beverages on deck and teeth sharpened.

Kale salad had flavorful dressing and a hefty portion.

Strip loin was over cooked but seasoning was very nice and had a good char to enhance the flavor.

Pork and beans was the star of the show, mainly only the pork as everything else is just thrown on the plate
